Our snug thatched cottage is the perfect place for a restful holiday in green countryside, far from everyday stress. Its lovely setting only 3.5 km from the beach makes it ideal for scenic cycling tours in the area. Whether for two or for the whole family, it is the holiday home you were looking for.

What the Olendeel offers

Time out in the country

The lovingly restored thatched cottage covers 104 m² and offers generous space for family holidays. The beams have been kept as they were, and a selection of handsome, partly antique country-style furniture gives the interior an inviting charm that puts you in a holiday mood from the very first moment.

In the snug living room, soft seating and an armchair invite you to unwind, while in cooler weather the old, still working tiled stove and a glass of wine make for comfortable hours.

The adjoining dining area, with its wonderful view of the garden, seats four to eight and leads into the state-of-the-art kitchen, which holds everything a keen cook could wish for.

You come to rest in two bedrooms, one with a double bed and a sofa bed, the other with a generous double bed measuring 200 x 210 cm. Two bright bathrooms with walk-in showers make the morning routine easier even with several guests.

Our holiday home has two modern bathrooms fitted with every comfort, among them heated towel rails, level-access showers with rain shower heads and underfloor heating. Each bathroom has a washbasin, a WC, a mirror and a hairdryer, to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

The generous, lovingly planted garden with two terraces – one of them covered – and a charcoal grill invites you to eat outdoors in summer, sunbathing on comfortable loungers while you enjoy the birdsong and the view. In less kind weather a flat-screen TV, a music system and free Wi-Fi keep you entertained.

What comes with the place

All three units share these.

Sauna
In the building between Holtdeel and Olendeel. Finnish, electric stove, up to 6 people. Anteroom with underfloor heating, shower and a Kneipp hose. Free for all guests.
Garden
2,000 m² with old fruit trees — plums, mirabelles, lemon apple, Holsteiner Cox. In summer they give welcome shade, and you are welcome to help yourself as well.
Quiet room
A converted greenhouse, for lying down after the sauna.
Parking
Four on the property, free of charge.
EV charger
Charging point for electric cars, for all guests.
Bicycles
A lockable shed for four bikes with three sockets for e-bikes. Two loan bicycles are ready for you.
Laundry
Washing machine in a room of its own.
Outdoor shower
Hot and cold, at Olendeel.
Wi-Fi and TV
Fibre in every unit, suitable for video calls. A flat-screen TV with satellite reception in every living and sleeping room.

House rules

  • We are sorry, but we cannot take pets in any of the three units.
  • There is no smoking indoors: all three units are non-smoking.
  • Events and parties are not possible. The three units stand close together and share one garden.
  • The sauna, the laundry room and the bicycle shed are shared by all guests. For the sauna you put your name down for a time and briefly coordinate with the others.
  • The grill in the garden is shared as well. There is a thatched roof above you: please grill in a way that keeps flare-ups small.
  • Arrival from 3 pm, departure by 11 am. The final cleaning is included in the price.
  • Families with children are welcome. Two cots and a high chair are available; let us know beforehand and they will be waiting in the right unit on the day you arrive.
